“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17

The Honor Bound Tournament is a program I have been involved with since 1997. We bring bass fishermen together for a great day on Lake Oroville. Over the years, we have grown significantly, and last year we had more participants competing than any other year. This event is one of the fastest growing in the area.

This tournament is not only about fishing, it is about leaving with the spirit of God in your heart, and getting some great equipment that was all donated by our wonderful sponsors. We would like to welcome you out to next years event to see what it is all about.

Not only is this tournament great fun to be a part of, it gives us a chance share God’s word and enjoy each others company while landing some lunker size bass. Below are some pictures from last years tournament. If you would like to get involved in next years tournament, please contact me anytime.
[Gallery not found]

CBAF last team event will be held for the first time on the California Delta. Russo’s Marine will be hosting our June 16th event. Just like so many team tournaments events in the past, we look forward to seeing some great anglers paired up to compete on one of the nation’s top bass producing waters.

Who fishes the CBAF events? Each year we are surprised at the big names that show up to fish against a very competitive field. There are some good teams out there that come to fish the event, enjoy our ministry, meet good people, and eat a great meal.

The cost to enter is $ 80.00 dollars a team with a big fish option.

You can register on line for the team event and all other CBAF events by logging on to www.thecbaf.com.

Come on out and fish against the best. You have been hearing about CBAF for years now.

We put more interest in making this event a success for all who attend in more ways than just winning a bass tournament. We have parents with kids, husband and wives, and just good team partners helping each other out with life’s challenges. Last month we had over one hundred twenty five people show up for our kid’s camp. (SEE ARTICLE)

Thirty kids arrived Friday May 4th at beautiful Collins Lake in the Sierra foothills to find brand new Coleman tents already set up and a welcoming CBAF volunteer staff ready to greet them. Complete with a huge fire pit, a gourmet camp kitchen and a lake-side setting, the 2007 Kids Bass Camp was underway.

The first annual camp adventure held May 4-6 would include a full diet of fishing seminars, quality inspirational interaction and an on-the-water fun tournament competition. Generous sponsor donations would see every camper receive a spinning rod and reel combo, a fully stocked tackle box, and a Bass Camp tee shirt and hat.

Friday night began with stories and songs around the camp fire and a great time of introductions and fellowship for the campers, staff and a few brave parents. Lights were out as everyone rested up for the exciting two days ahead. Twenty four hour security patrol provided by CBAF staff volunteers made sure kids and parents could rest safely.

A huge breakfast at daybreak met waking campers Saturday morning complete with eggs, bacon, hash browns, juice and all the trimmings. Teams of kids were then paired with CBAF staff leaders for a nature walk to let breakfast settle and to spend quality time talking about God, His creation and His love for us.

Back at camp teams of kids rotated through seminars covering plastic worm pouring, creating spinner baits, jig tying, casting, knot tying and bass boating etiquette. The seminars were hands-on leaving each camper with a bag full of hand made tackle to use in the next day’s tournament. Clearly CBAF staffers put in many hours preparing the top notch demonstrations which were as professional as any you find at commercial outdoor shows. Another great camp dinner, songs and inspirational message concluded Saturday’s camp day.

Campers awoke early Sunday to be greeted by 25 volunteer tournament pro’s and their bass rigs. Each camper was paired with a pro for the day, tournament rules were announced and the launch commenced. Following another stirring live rendition of our National Anthem by CBAF staff, the competition was on. Campers and pros alike found the post front bass bite a little tough but nearly every camper got to feel the pull of a feisty spotted bass on the end of their line.

A large crowd cheered campers and pros as they brought their sack to the weigh-in at days end. Back at the camp awards ceremony, each camper received a little recognition, a photograph with their pro, and a hand made trophy along with a great tackle bag. Pros recounted key memories from their day and were thanked with a commemorative Bass Camp shirt and cap.

At camps end all agreed the 2007 CBAF Kids Bass Camp was a huge success. No doubt the 30 campers gathered memories, knowledge and examples of integrity that will help carry them through future fishing experiences and through life. Volunteer pro anglers, CBAF staff and parents alike should take pride in the investment they made May 4-6. In this day and age where many less than favorable influences vie for the attention and allegiance of our youth, sacrifices like yours have made a lasting difference.

Hope to see you at next year’s camp.
